Community

Family Groups

Family Groups provide space for the deepest spiritual growth in BCM. They gather weekly in smaller groups to inspire deeper devotion to Christ's teachings, prayer, and fun... basically sharing life together. Here are our groups this fall:

Fresh Groove with Jesus

On Tuesdays at 5 pm, in the BCM big room

With Hannah Almond (Anthropology, '20)
and Delharty Manson (Public Policy, '22)

A family group for freshmen and second-year freshmen (sophomores who were robbed of a normal year). Come join us as we talk about some of the challenges you're facing in this new college life.

Questions for Heaven

On Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, at the BCM house.
Come with food at 6:00 if you want to eat with us!

With Sam Freeman (Math, '23)
and Hannah Simpson (English, '22)

Do you have questions about God, faith, and life? So do we! Come join us as we seek out answers together! This is a safe space, whatever your faith background.

Scripture Songs with Jeannine and Lizzy

On Fridays at 6:15 pm, at the BCM house. Bring food at 5:45 to eat together!

With Jeannine Brokaw (Comp Sci, '22)
and Elizabeth Ancheril (Bio/Neuroscience, '23)
(Wow, really, I would never have guessed)

The Bible is full of songs. Some were already songs when they were written down, other verses inspired new songs. Either way, music is a meaningful way to experience God's word, in the good times, the sad, and the stressful. Join us to study God's word through songs based on Scripture!

Men After God's Own Heart

On Mondays at 7pm, at the BCM House

With Jay Ford (Comp Sci/Chinese, '22)
and Zeko Wezah (real adult)

We're men. Growing together. After God's own heart. We're the cool kids. Come join us.

IM Sports

BCM loves IM sports! Past teams have included softball, outdoor soccer, flag football, and volleyball. If you can find the people to play, we'll play any sport. Contact Will Hobbs to see if we are playing your sport.

Suunday Night Gatherings

All of BCM gathers on Sunday evenings at 5pm for a home-cooked dinner provided by local churches, followed at 6pm with a student-led time of announcements, worship, message, and goofiness. All are welcome. After the gathering, hang out as long as you want to make new friends!

Fall Gathering @ Eagle Eyrie

Every October, BCM retreats for fun and spiritual growth with other students across Virginia. Go deeper in relationship with God and friends! Here is a past flier for Fall Gathering. In Fall 2021, retreat will be October 22-24.

Winter Retreats @ The Edge

Near the beginning of the spring semester, BCM ferries across the James river for an awesome retreat. Here is a past flier for Winter Retreat.

Coordination Team

Coordination Team is the group that seeks God's direction for BCM, plans Sunday night gatherings and various events, and leads in execution of those plans. They meet bi-weekly on Sunday nights. These meetings are open to anyone curious about servant leadership in BCM.

We are always looking those who love to lead others in worship through song. Contact Sam Freeman if you are interested. Once a team forms, a regular practice time will be announced.

Affiliated Organizations

Baptist Collegiate Ministries across Virginia collaborate for exceptional leadership, retreat, and mission experiences. "Kairos" is the Greek word for "season" or "right time." Now, as a young adult, age 18-25, is the perfect season to discover ultimate meaning in following Christ.

The home for our VA Baptist churches. The Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) is a cooperative missions and ministry organization that consists of over 1,400 autonomous churches in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as churches internationally.

This is the site for the Peninsula Baptist Association of churches in the Hampton Roads area. Many of these churches bring meals to our BCM on Sunday evenings at 5pm.

Giving

On Donating

Annually, BCM serves the W&M campus through outreach events, hospitality, opportunity for spiritual growth, guest speakers, and retreats. Among our most important and costly are the cross cultural service opportunities we provide. They stretch the faith and worldview of our students in ways campus based activities cannot. They can even satisfy the College's curriculum requirements for international travel. Our students do various (often wacky) fund raisers all year long to afford these experiences, but they rarely meet all our needs. God provides for all BCM's needs through the generosity of alumni, churches, students and their families, and friends. Thank you for prayerfully considering a donation.

Ways to Donate

Donate Securely Online: Click the button below. When completing your donation, please indicate what BCM cause has inspired your gift. Your donation is tax deductible and will be receipted.

Donate by Mail: If you would rather not donate electronically, make your check payable to "BCM" and mail it to BCM, 244 S. Boundary St., Williamsburg, VA, 23185. Indicate what BCM cause has inspired your gift on a separate piece of paper. Your donation is tax deductible and will be receipted.

Donate to secure BCM's future: Our alumni raise support for BCM staffing and larger capital purchases for BCM. They also established an endowment in 1997 to prepare for the potential waning of denominational support. After celebrating BCM's 90th anniversary in 2016, we envision a 100th anniversary when BCM is financially sustained solely by the donations of alumni, students, their families, and friends. Learn more and give securely at the website of our BCM Alumni Association.
